Globalisation has significantly transformed the social, cultural and political landscapes of postcolonial societies, reshaping concepts of identity, belonging and cultural representation. Contemporary English fiction reflects these transformations by portraying the complex experiences of individuals negotiating multiple cultural affiliations, migration, displacement and the enduring legacies of colonialism. This study examines the representation of postcolonial identity in selected works of contemporary English fiction, focusing on how globalisation influences cultural hybridity, self-representation and the construction of identity. Employing a qualitative research methodology based on textual analysis, the study explores the ways contemporary novelists depict the tensions between local traditions and global influences, highlighting the challenges of preserving cultural identity within an increasingly interconnected world. It also analyses themes of migration, diaspora, memory and belonging to understand how postcolonial identities are continuously negotiated and redefined. The findings suggest that contemporary English fiction challenges fixed notions of identity by presenting postcolonial subjects as dynamic individuals shaped by historical experiences, cultural interactions and global mobility. The study reveals that contemporary English fiction makes a significant contribution to postcolonial literary discourse by offering critical insights into the evolving relationship between globalisation, culture and identity in the twenty-first century.
